Lately...

Honestly, we have just been living life. I work, Josh works, Josh goes to school, we play with the boy when we get home, we fix dinner and feed him at the same time, we do bath time, he goes to bed, Josh studies, I get chores done, and we repeat every week night. Some nights we venture out to eat or run to Target or Walmart. On the weekends, if we don't have visitors or something planned, we catch up on things we can't get done during the week. I would call it a normal life but there are some days when I feel like I need to put a sign on our front door that says "Come one, Come all to the Hendricks Circus!". One thing that has changed lately is our sitter has now become our in-home nanny and it is FABULOUS! Shaw gets to take naps in his own bed, play in his own home, and she takes him out to run errands or to get things done. All week I come home to a clean house. We love our Mrs. Tammy! Also, this past weekend was our 3rd anniversary! Can't believe it has been 3 years! Back in April, I randomly decided to get on Merle Haggard's website to see where he might be coming this summer. Even though Josh doesn't have a written bucket list, if he did have one seeing Merle before he passes away would be on there. So, when I saw he was coming to Branson, I atuomatically knew I was going to surprise him with tickets. Not only was the concert in a nearby city but it was also the Saturday before our anniversay, how perfect?! My parents came up to keep baby boy and we got away for our first over night getaway. We had a great time but by 24 hours of being away we were speeding to get home to him!

We stayed at the Branson Landing and it was great. Very nice and convenient.

The Hag

I think he was telling me "I'm going backstage!". Ha! So glad I could take Josh to see him perform. I was a little skeptical but ended up singing to almost every song! It was great!

Baby boy has been spending a little time in his pool out on our back patio. It is SO hot outside that we limit our time out there, but the little time we do spend he has had a great time. Also, he is ALL over the place! He will be playing in the living room and the next thing we know he has locked himself in our bedroom, which brings up another subject. The boy is OBESSESED with doors. He swings them back and forth with all his might! ha! We have had one smashed finger but after about 10 seconds of crying he was over it and demanding to be on the floor so he could swing the door again.

Eating our watermelon inside because it is too HOT outside!

Loves his walker and can get wherever he wants to go in it!

Playing, splashing, and staying cool!

Oliver the lifeguard!

And the door obsession!...I see this picture a lot, little hands wrapped around the door!

This was the night we couldn't find him (for about 15 seconds) and he had gone to our bedroom to play with the door and had shut himself in the room. We found him by his hands sticking out underneath the door. It was so funny and sweet. Josh was able to open the door a little bit and get him to move out of the way so we could let him out! Silly boy!

Thank goodness for nap time so I can actually get blog posts done! Later tonight we are off to a Fourth of July party and tomorrow we are going to brave the heat and crowd and go to the lake! Happy Fourth from our family!!

Wedding Weekend

Like I mentioned in my last post, two weekends ago we were a part of a beautiful wedding. I grew up with the bride and the groom is a family friend and the brother/brother-in-law to one of our best  couple friends. I "directed" (haha, I like to call is more of being bossy). We got to see lots of family and friends over the weekend, and it was a great time. Even though the couple is from Central Arkansas, they decided on Whitney Mountain Lodge in Garfield, Arkansas for the wedding and reception. I was pretty ecstatic when I heard the news because not only is it a pretty place but it is only about 30 minutes from our house. Little man was a trooper. We had some pretty rough times with him napping in a strange place, but for the most part he was a great baby. He was not put to bed until 10:30 at the earliest for three nights in a row (7:30 is his normal bed time) and he still woke up with a smile on his face. You can't beat that! It also didn't hurt that he had all the attention he wanted and was spoiled rotten with extra kisses and love all weekend long.

Since the wedding was out of town, a lot of the family came up on Thursday night so we were able to go eat dinner that night with some friends and catch up!

Playing while waiting for everyone else gets ready to leave for dinner Thursday night.

First time to ride in his big boy car seat.

Alisha and I. It was so nice to get to catch up with her. Even though we text, call, and see each other's stuff on Facebook it was so nice to see and talk to her in person! We decided to sit on the patio at dinner and it was HOT (can you tell?!).

Josh Curtis trying to coax Shaw into coming to him with his wallet.

He did NOT want any of JD's lovin'! Ha!

My sweet family at the rehearsal dinner.

Model baby.

Love this girl!

My best friend and sister

The only picture I got with my camera of the bride and groom. Even though John David's eyes are closed I had to share!

Isn't this view breathtaking? They got married in this exact spot.

Playing in Ganna and Pops' room at the lodge.

Nap time with Pops

Woops, I woke him up with the flash. My dad has the bluest eyes I have ever seen. My brother got this trait as well, along with my nephew and Shaw's are starting to look a lot like this, too. So, now we use the expression "Pops' eyes" to describe them. I hope all my kids get pops' eyes!

What a great, busy, fun filled weekend with family and friends! So glad we got to see everyone for a few days!

Our "nothing" weekend

We (or I) were so excited to have a weekend full of nothing too important planned. We stayed at home, got a lot of play time in and made some changes around the house. Little man kept us on our toes at all times with all his mobility. We had to do our first round of child proofing by covering all the electrical outlets. Josh looked around his chair on Saturday and saw two little hands playing with the cords and luckily some smart family friend that thought in advance had got us outlet covers as part of a baby gift so we had some handy. After a few weeks of me nagging asking Josh to lower the crib he finally decided it needed to be done since Shaw is now crawling, pulling up, and even cruising some. The boy is into EVERYTHING and gets where ever he wants to go. Even though it can be quite exhausting, I am loving this stage. It is so much fun and I think he is overall a happier baby since he can do and go as he pleases. Saturday, we spent the day shopping for Josh. We have a super busy weekend coming up so we did his Father's Day early and I just let him pick out a few things he had been wanting. On Sunday, we finally got the nerve to take him to the church nursery. Josh was holding him when we dropped him off and of course he gave us the awful, sad face and started crying. As we walked to service, Josh said he thought he would go over during and make sure he was okay :). I talked him out of it since there were approximately 4 workers in his one room and us enjoying worship and a sermon together was the reason why we took him. The workers said he did great and was a sweetie! One not so fun thing we dealt with and our still trying to figure out is this rash Shaw has had. It has stayed about the same for the last two weeks and it is just around his mouth. Well, it donned on me a couple of nights ago that I had a dairy allergy growing up and my mom always mentioned something about a rash. Come to find out, it was a rash around my mouth. So, for the last two days we have done no formula and no yogurt. Luckily, I am not a huge milk drinker but I am trying to limit my dairy intake as well. We will see how the rash goes and if it doesn't get any better we will resume dairy. He has been slobbering quite a bit more lately so it could also be that. We will see. Overall, we had a great, family filled weekend. With how busy our life is I never take these times for granted.

Play time with Daddy. He LOVES this toy Mimi got him for Christmas. It is a basketball goal, baseball and bat, and football...all the sports (besides golf) Josh will approve of. Ha!

Yup, this is what our dogs are doing about 80% of the time. "Playing" or fighting, whichever you want to call it.

This is the rash :( It is looking a little better. Today, it is no longer raised but more of bigger patches of dry skin.

Had to take this picture of his chubby little knees. They are so red from all the crawling.

About to play with the outlet and cords, until we caught him in action.

I know I have mentioned before that Olivia was a rescue dog and we think she spent most of her time in a kennel since that is where she willingly goes all the other time her and Oliver aren't roughhousing it.

Happy (early) Father's Day, Josh.

More play time with daddy. Can you tell they like doing this? Oh, and it always involves a sport or ball. Love my boys!

First time in the trash.

haha this explains it all!

First time in the diapers.

First time messing with the dog kennel.

Yes, I pretty much walked around all weekend with the camera around my neck so I could catch all these hilarious, exhausting, once in a lifetime moments. Now, onto a super fun and busy weekend with one of our good family friends marrying another good family friend :). It's going to be a great time!!

Bath Time

....Has become one of his favorite times over the last few months. I think he could stay in the bathtub for hours if I let him. He plays, laughs, talks, plays some more, and has a good time!

He is probably thinking "Mom...really?! Pictures of me in the bathtub?" :)

Smirky grin..he has it down pat!

Bathie time with all my toys!

He is really into licking right now?! I can handle this but when he goes to lick the floor tiles or hard woods is when I cringe!

I'll sit up and play for a while!

This little whale toy sprays water out of it's spout when it is pressed! He loves it!

Oh, just crawling through the water!

Sweet baby.

CHEEESE!!!

End result: one clean, smell good, happy baby boy!
