Seven Months

Well, the first six months have come and gone :(. Now, the last half of our sweet boy's first year of life has begun. This last month has had it's ups and downs, changes, and has been down right busy and fun.

Shaw Michael, as of this past Friday, you are now 7 months old and your momma can NOT believe it! Here are some fun facts about you:
  • You wear size 3 diapers and your sitter has told us that you are a good "pee'er". :) Must be the reason why we had to move up a size so quickly.
  • At the Dr. last Saturday you weight 14 lb 2 oz but I weighed you here at home on your 7 month birthday and you were 14 lb 1 oz?! So, not sure EXACTLY how much you weigh?!
  • You wear 3-6 month, 6 month and we can still squeeze in some 3 months clothes. You are even wearing some 6-9 month pj's.
  • You switched sitters this past month. It was a crazy time for all of us! Your new sitter is amazing, you love her, we love her, and she is your "Nonna". We feel like this was God's plan from the beginning and so glad it took us going through the craziness to get you (and us) with her!
  • You are making the sounds "maa" and "byyy". Still no actual "words" but you are getting really good with your sounds. Your daddy is really sad that you haven't ventured to the "D" sound yet!
  • You are really becoming mobile. No, not even close to crawling. You sit up like a pro (30 minutes +), reach for things, bend completely over and sit back up, put all your weight on your hands while sitting up to reach, and can manuever all over us if we are holding you and you want something.
  • Still don't like to roll to your tummy but you can do it. You roll ever which way, though.
  • You still have not seen the Orthopedic for your scoliosis but we are going next week! PTL! Can't wait to see what he has to say!
  • This is the first month that mommy has really had to sit back and say "Okay, he is really only 5 months right now"! My OT tendencies get me scared if you aren't meeting a milestone right on time or ahead of time when really up until now you have been a little advanced!
  • Since we took you out of the Nap Nanny you have become a crazy sleeper! As in, we find you 180 degrees from where you started or you have scooted yourself to the corner of your crib. You are also a side sleeper.
  • You are super observant. Some would say you are nosey :) You have to know EVERYTHING that is going on!
  • You are reaching for us now! It melts my heart everytime!
  • You got your first sickness this past month. It was a virus that was going around and you had the most horrible sounding cough. After two Drs. visits and a call to the nurse they confirmed that you did NOT have RSV and your lungs remained clear. After doing an inhaler 2x a day for about a week, using saline drops, and our super duper battery operated nose suction we are finally over it. It took 2 whole weeks!
  • Since the sickness, your sleeping has been a little off. Our great 10 hour sleeper has been waking up a few times at night. After writing this last night our little man decided he wanted to sleep 9-730 with only waking up a little bit at 4! Yay...maybe we are getting our good sleeper back?!
  • You have been teething for a few months now, but your two bottom teeth are officially coming in. We can see them and just know they will break through at any time. You are a pretty bad teether. We have tried an all natural serum, the teething tablets, and occassionally Tylenol. The tablets work pretty well.
  • Your individual play time at home is getting better. You have been going through a bratty stage of wanting to be held but I can see improvement each day.
  • You are a momma's boy! This makes mommy :) and sometimes it makes me :( haha!
  • People are starting to say that you are looking less like your daddy.
  • You are a fantastic eater! As of today, you have tried avocado, sweet potato, pears, spinach, green peas, peaches, oat meal, and banana. Green peas and peaches are your favorite and you hate bananas! We think you do not like the taste but they also make your tummy hurt.
  • Your nursing schedule is still the same and you get two pureed foods as a "supplement". One for breakfast and one for dinner. We are also giving you about .5 oz of water to drink with your food. You are getting really good at drinking it yourself.
  • This month will be the first time since you were in the NICU that you have had any formula. Momma's freezer supply is starting to get low, so your food will be made with formula instead of mommy's milk. You can use the extra calories :)
  • You love your brother and sister.
  • You still love being outside.
  • Your favorite activities include: watching mommy get ready while sitting in your Bumbo, bath time, swinging, riding in the wagon, playing with toys in your room, song games (Wheels on The Bus, Patty Cake, Itsy Bitsy Spider), and anything with mommy!
  • You have become a great traveler. You can now make it the whole trip home to Central Arkansas, which is about 3.5 hours. You are also doing better riding at night.
  • You are a giggler! Everytime I hear it, it gets sweeter and sweeter!
  • You are very ticklish! You sweet spots are up your spine, your ribs, and your neck! All like your mommy!
  • You have the sweetest, smiliest personality
Shaw Michael you are such a joy! Mommy and daddy love you more than you will ever know!
