Sutton 5 months

This sweet angel boy is 5 months old today. Such a bittersweet time. He is learning new things every day, but it seems to be going by way too fast for my liking. He is such a sweet natured baby, and one of the most chill babies I have ever been around. Here is what our sweet Sutton "Crae Crae" is all about at 5 months:
  • As of yesterday, he weighed 16 lb. 6 oz and if I had to guess he is probably around 26/27 inches long.
  • Wearing all 3-6 month, 6 month, and some 9 and 6-12 month clothing
  • Sleeping 8+ hours now! He goes to bed between 7-8 and wakes up between 4-6. Still sleeping in his crib until he wakes up then he gets in bed with us.
  • Still exclusively breastfed. Eats every 3-4 hours and takes 5 oz bottles when he gets one.
  • Haven't started any food yet but plan to within the next few weeks. The boy watches our every move at the dinner table and even licks his lips! Ha! I think he is ready for some big boy food.
  • He now loves the Avent paci and has been taking it for a few weeks
  • If we can get in 1 hour of cat naps in a day it is considered a good day. The boy doesn't really like to nap but is happy without them. If he does nap it is either on our bed or in his swing.
  • His two bottom teeth are SO close to coming in. He should have his first two teeth any day now.
  • Has successfully been sitting up for a week now. He loves to sit up and play with toys.
  • Loves to jump in his jumparoo
  • Getting pretty close to crawling. He has learned how to get his knees under him but he can't figure out how to work his arms just yet.
  • Enjoys tummy time
  • Loves shaking rattles, playing with linky toys, and big toys that light up
  • Grabs on to anything and everything
  • Still has pretty red/auburn hair that is getting super thick
  • Has decided this past month that he doesn't mind the car seat again
  • Giggles and talks all the time. He cackles the most at his brother and thinks he is absolutely hilarious. This past weekend I heard him say the "mmm" and "daaa" sounds
  • Thinks the dogs are pretty cool and grabs on to them whenever they are close
  • Smiles the biggest smile
  • Loves to snuggle but only when he is tired
  • Enoys baths with his brother
  • Likes to be fed, put in his Velcro blanket, and put down at night with no hesitation.
  • Loves to be carried everywhere but doesn't mind the stroller either.
  • When people are talking to him he looks so intently at them like he is really understanding what they are saying :). His brother used to do the same thing so it makes me wonder if he will be a good talker as well?!
Sutton, you have brought so much joy to our lives over the last 5 months. You and your brother have become best friends quickly! I pray that the love you have for one another never goes away and that your brother always introduces you as his "brother Button Sutton" with such joy and enthusiasm as he does now. When strangers or other kids come around and get close to you, he is always the first one to jump in front of them and protect you. I pray that protection is something y'all always have for one another. My heart overflows with happiness because of you two! You are such a blessing to our family! We love you sweet boy!

Did you have chicken?
Shaking his head yes. "Chicken nug-gets"

Can you count to five for me?

3. He can count to five and then will try numbers up to ten but they are never in order.

Happy Holiday Weekend

We had a great and long weekend that was MUCH needed. Josh had Friday off with us so we had four days together. We spent our time sitting at home, relaxing, and being out and about; it was a good combination of the two! On the fourth we tried, yes tried, to make it to the pool. We had to make a stop in between and Sutton was screaming at the top of his lungs. I go around to get him out and there is poop EVERY WHERE! We thought we had packed an extra pair of clothes but we were wrong. So, we decided to just go back home and let the boys nap instead. Josh and Shaw played in the sprinkler that afternoon to make up for the pool time :). That night, we watched the fireworks at my grandparents house which is what I grew up doing every 4th. I was so excited to let the boys get to do the same. Friday we got things done at home and just relaxed, and then Saturday we went to the lake all day with my family. It was a great time!! This afternoon we were able to spend some much needed time with Josh's grandparents and ate cake in honor of their 67th Wedding Anniversary. I hope Josh and I get to see 67 years together. What a legacy they have lived and an example of true, unconditional love they are.

Sprinkler time

I made this yummy fruit pizza that we ate on all weekend

My boys

He was amazed by the sparklers but didn't understand they were fire. Also, I would say the fireworks, in general, scared him a little this year. He would say, "baboom get you, scare you" :(. After a while he got the hang of it and laughed at the big "baboom" they made! Sweet boy.

This boy just chilled the whole time. He is so sweet.

My mom got him and Bliss, my cousin's little girl, these light up American flags. It was probably his favorite thing about the night.

Lake day. Hollywood!

This baby HATED the life jacket this trip. Not sure I can blame him.

Helping Pops fish. By the way, his fishing pole is now at the bottom of the lake. It only made it two lake trips before it disappeared. Oh well, I am sure we will be buying TONS between now and the time they turn 18.

My dad would tell him to get a cricket out and he would say "k, get cricket!" and stick his hand right in and pick one up. All boy!

He loves being on the boat!

Josh fishing on our boat.

My sweet Rae Rae

We met some of our family friends for some swimming.

Out like a light!

Love this girl with all my heart!

And he does too....

Josh's Nanny holding Sutton. This is the first time they had seen him and she kept going on and on about how much he looked like Josh's dad as a baby. I know that had to be good for her heart! It made me so happy and sad. We miss him so much and know the boys would just love their Poppa!

Josh, his grandparents, and the boys.

We had a great holiday weekend and we are so grateful for all those that have and are currently defending our freedom. Thank you for allowing me to enjoy my family and friends this weekend!
