Sutton's Monster Bash

Each kid was given a monster to adopt and take home. (spiky, sensory toy....can you guess I'm an OT?! Ha!). They were a huge hit and the kids loved them.

 Loved doing this chalkboard.

Playroom and kids table set up. I did coloring monster sheets for all the older kids.

Couldn't have been happier with the cakes. Not only did they look fabulous, they tasted amazing!

Monster paper lanterns hanging over the table.

Photo back drop

Door hanger that my mom found at a flee market for $4!

Sweet birthday boy. Love the shirt his Ganna made him.

12 months of cuteness all lined up :)

The kids loved all the ride-ons and blow ups we had there. Thankfully we had family that owned enough of both to accommodate!

Okay, this boy loves to eat ALL food. We just knew he would be the baby that went face first for his cake. Two finger pokes later he was done. We aren't sure if he didn't realize it was food or if it was his bloody gums we discovered after the party due to new teeth, but this isn't what we expected!

He was more interested in giving Pops bites

Such a great time shared with friends and family! Our boy is so loved!

Sutton 12 months

Well, our baby turned a year old this past Friday. I say that like I almost thought it wouldn't happen. Last week, I went through the stages of reliving everything I was doing at that same time last year, and with every memory I could not believe it had been a year. A year that went by so so fast. With having 2 little ones I am sure it went by so fast because we never stop, they never stop. It is go, go, go all the time. I am also sure it went by fast because I had a lot less sleep this past year, the littlest sleep I've ever had in my life. With all that being said, it's been one tiresome, exciting, great year. One of the best ones yet, if not the greatest. Here is what our big ONE YEAR OLD is up to:

  • He weighs around 21 lbs. and has gotten super tall. We go this week for his official one year measurements.
  • He wears size 12 months, some 6-12, and some 18 months. Size 5 shoe.
  • He had 6 teeth on his birthday, but since then one more has broke through and a molar is almost through.
  • He is still tricking us out with walking. Since he started crawling at 6 months we just knew he would be a 10-11 month walker. WRONG. He is still taking 1-2 steps and then will slowly sit down. He can also walk with just holding on to ONE FINGER. The little stinker could do it, he honestly just has no want to.
  • Crawls, cruises, stands up and turns around while keeping his balance, squats
  • Everything is a phone. He puts it up to his ear and says his version of "hello", which is more like "ewwo".
  • Every person or animal he sees he greets with "Hi!"
  • He is constantly saying "look" and showing us things.
  • The issues over sharing with brother really started this past month. Pulling, tugging, and crying involved by both sides.
  • They actually really play well together. They love to play chase and Shaw is so good at playing cars/trucks/ other games and explaining every little detail to him.
  • Still nurses 2-3 times a day. We had started him on dairy milk this past month with meals and snacks, sadly he kept a runny nose and wet cough. We are now off of all dairy and those symptoms are almost completely gone plus the rash that has come and gone on his face for the last 3 months hasn't returned since we stopped it all. He is enjoying the coconut and almond milk combined as his alternative.
  • Didn't have one drop of formula his whole first year!
  • Getting good at requesting "bite" and has been saying "ba-ba" for his bottle/cup lately. He can say several words but he doesn't talk quite as much as brother did at this age.
  • Still loves to be outside, play with his toys, and chase the dogs around
  • Takes 2 naps a day still and consistently goes to bed at 7 and wakes up between 7:30-8:30 every morning.
  • He still loves to be rocked and cuddled at night. I really hope he enjoys that for several years to come. My favorite time of the day is rocking him while praying for him and his brother.
  • Has the cheesiest, gap toothed, wide mouthed grin you will ever see :)

Sutton McCrae, you have brought so much joy to our lives the past year. Your sweet spirit is contagious and we hope you keep it for years to come. We are constantly told what a sweet and easy going baby you are; those people couldn't be more right. We can't wait to watch you grow and learn. Mommy, Daddy, and brother love you!

(Please excuse big brother in the back ground! Ha!)
